Holy Monkey! Nerdapalooza!!

That's right, folks! It's upon us!! It's Wednesday right now... tomorrow is the Pre-Party at A Comic Shop, and Friday is the big event.

First, a few quick sad announcements... unfortunately LogicOne will NOT be performing this year. His car broke down last minute. However, he will be replaced by the amazing local acts Witherwings and the House of Black. Yay, Wizard Rock!! Second, Random Encounter is performing early on Saturday, giving us some phenomenal video game music to kick the day off with!!

Now, for the pre-party: FREE PIZZA! FREE BEER (if you're over 21 with ID)! FREE ENTRY!!

Frontalot and Wordburglar will be giving signatures. The House of Black, In Real Life, Marc with a C, Bucket of Nails, and Wordburglar will be performing... who knows who else might pop up. Free entry!! Come party with the artists at A Comic Shop (corner of Semoran and University in Orlando).

And then the big event. Not much more I can say now. Very hurriedly throwing the last pieces together for an awesome event. Expect a LENGTHLY blog with a wrap up after the event. We will be selling posters and t-shirts at the event! Official Nerdapalooza Posters and T-shirts. They look awesome.

Okay... back to work. ^_^ Hope to see y'all there!!

On the Topic of Old Habits

It is two weeks from Nerdapalooza Southeast 2008. For old time's sake, I decided to give you some nerd musix news before Nerdapalooza updates. ^_^

First off, the FuMP, as always, provided us with some awesome musix. First off, we had from the prince of parody himself, the great Luke Ski releasing a song in tribute to Babylon 5 called No Sleep Till Babylon. This was shortly followed up by Sudden Death's Devo Spice pumping out the awesome song The Geeks Come Out at Night assisted by none other than the great Luke Ski.

Next up, fresh out of Florida, we have funky49 on the advent of releasing a new album called Starblazer. I guess the press release I got would put it best:

I am releasing my first album. It's called Starblazer. It's around 69 minutes. It will be available in physical and electronic formats. It's got a good bit of redvoid and some tastes of mCRT, Ham-STAR, mc wreckshin, betty rebel, sir-up, mc jeff z/dimension. I'm asking money for the thing so I can buy a new computer, a Samsung LN-52A650 television, start a Roth IRA and maybe resurrect that ol' paint chip habit (lead based is sweet!). I have a guy retooling my website and a girl doing wicked cover art and Christy aka MerchGirlRed will be making killer t-shirts. Oh, plus a wild music video with hot dancers. I ask that you please spread this information in some sort of digital and/or analog format. Grazie.

Next up, the sadly recently retired Virginia-faring Illbotz sound like the might be making a much anticipated Illbotz Greatezt Hitz. They are currently taking requests on what to have on the album. I'm pretty partial to Doo Doo Def and There's No Stopping Us (Or Is There?), but that's just me. ^_^ Hit them up and show your love!

Last but not least, DJ 2thirteen posted his latest edition of his radio show Boston Underground. You can peep it here.

Now to Nerdapalooza news. I got a few entries for the Nerdapalooza Theme Song. Just to remind you: winner gets to perform FOR FREE next year. Final deadline is 11:59:59 Pacific Time to my email of nerdapalooza AT gmail DOT com. DOOOO EEEET!

Next, Nerdapalooza Southeast has TWO count 'em TWO shows building up to Nerdapalooza. One, as already advertised, is the WIZARD ROCK BALL!! Check the main page for details on that. Second, we have the Nerdapalooza Pre-Party that will be at A Comic Shop, our beloved sponsor. Free beer, free pizza, free entry. Secret line-up for now. But we'll have MC Frontalot and Wordburglar signing stuff. ^_^

Also, since Nerdapalooza is Fourth of July weekend, and to support not onlt our beloved A Comic Shop sponsor, but our troops that are abroad, we are helping them in their Operation Sequential Art Donation Drive. Basically, to support the troops, A Comic Shop is taking donations of comic books, graphic novels, sci-fi novels, and the like, packing them up, and shipping them to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, you can be for the war, or you can be against it. What this is geared towards is supporting the morale of the troops over there by giving back a little. So, at Nerdapalooza, we'll be accepting any donations of comics, graphic novels, sci-fi books, etc and giving them right over to A Comic Shop, who is handling all shipping oversees.

And to end it all up... Nerdapalooza UK was a ROUSING success... here's evidence!!

much nerdy love, and see y'all in two weeks, hopefully. buy your tix NAOW!

On the Topic of Awesome

So, got some amazing things to talk about!

First off, I am VERY proud and excited to announce that Genoboost of Game Music 4 All has turned his amazing talent of making funny robotical comics as a way to advertise Nerdapalooza. Doing so, he also revived the old Nerdapaloozer Street Team blog - read them here! Word on the street that Genoboost has summoned a swarm of inspiration and has made like 85 already, to post them one at a time. Okay, maybe he didn't make 85... but you won't know unless you check that blog daily. DOOOO EEEEET!!

Next, once again on the topic of "VERY proud and excited to announce" is that Nerdapalooza UK takes place tomorrow. 3:30 PM tomorrow, the Nerds will ROCK the UK. If I have people like MC Gigahertz flying out to MY Nerdapalooza cross-country, and the amazing organizer of Nerdapalooza UK, MisterB flying over for the UK to open Nerdapalooza, there is NO REASON why anyone on the isle of Great Britain ain't at that party. Especially cause it's free! GOOOOOO!!!

Finally, before Nerdapalooza, we'll be doing two shows! One the day before as a pre-party. But I'll talk more on that when we get closer. However, here's what we got going on June 25th:

A Comic Shop, EMPulse Records, and Nerdapalooza Southeast 2008 Present...

Who: The House of Black, The Witherwings, and Fred Lives. Who knew Orlando had such an awesome Wizard Rock Scene?

What: All ages show! $5

Where: Backbooth Bar & Venue in Orlando. Click here for the google map of the place ^_^

When: June 25th, 2008 @ 6:30 PM

Why: Because Harry Potter is AWESOME!! So is Wizard Rock. So is reading. ^_^

TELL A FRIEND!!

And with that... I go back to work. Not without a reminder that Nerdapalooza Theme Song competition has ONE WEEK!! WINNER COMES TO PERFORM AT NERDAPALOOZA FOR FREE! Make a song and perform for free! Isn't that easy?

much nerdy love

T-Minus Three Point Five Weeks

So, Nerdapalooza Southwest 2008 is inching up on us, and I am getting more and more excited as it gets closer. I have a few things to announce to y'all and let you know is in the works!

First off, I wanted to announce that we are holding off increasing ticket prices for a little while. For now, they are still at $30, so go buy them TODAY!. We also wanted to finally announce the official schedule for the show for those curious when your favorite nerdy musician was gonna play. As you may notice there is both a glaring lack of Select Start as well as a spot labeled "TBA". The reason for this, sadly is because our friends over at Select Start are going through a transitional period and did not feel comfortable with the set that they would be giving at Nerdapalooza, wanting to only give their fans the best. Because of this, we had to sadly part ways, but we are waiting intently for the time that they are ready to do shows with us again!

Next up on the announcement list is checking out a little thing called the Orlando Weekly Yearly Best Of Awards. Right now, our beloved sponsor, A Comic Shop is thick in the running for Best Comic Shop in Orlando in 2008. Now, let's ignore the fact that they gave me lots of money in order to make Nerdapalooza a foreboding reality... but in all seriousness these guys ARE the Best Comic Shop in Orlando and deserve to be voted as such for ANOTHER year. Now, as I was filling in the form, I noticed a category of "Best Festival." I think y'all can see where I'm going with this. I'll leave it at that. ^_^

So, I still have a Nerdapalooza Theme Song going on. Just to remind all you artists out there: first place is a confirmed spot at Nerdapalooza 2009 as well as airfare and hotel. I thought that might catch more attention. You have until the 20th to finish a track if you want to be in the running for a spot at Nerdapalooza.

Also, my amazing friend Genoboost of GM4A needs help getting his ass to Florida for Nerdapalooza. He is making a call to help him get down here. After such awesome stuff as Heavy Troop is Ready to Launch as well as his upcoming Anniversary album, Welcome to World 2, I think we owe him a little bit back. While I'm talking about bloggers, I also want to give a shout out to Z. from Hipster, Please! for interviewing Rob and myself for this month's Radio Free Hipster. Much awesomeness! Can't wait to hear how awkward I sounded!

Also, y'all have until the 16th of June to contact the hotels that are helping Nerdapalooza with housing if you want to take advantage of the discount. DOOOO EEEEET NAOW!!!

That's all for now. Help advertise Nerdapalooza however you can! Tell a friend! Grab our flier and make it your avatar! Do whatever! Dance!! I'm out!

And the Artists are REVEALED!

Okay, ladies and gents... it's about time to introduce you to the last few artists we have on the line up:

First up, all the way from the United Kingdom, we have MisterB! Not only has this boy been busy in the studio pumping out a number of tracks for GM4A's latest compilation, Here Comes A New Challenger, but he is also Genoboost's better half on the Letters Vs Numbers podcast, but he is ALSO the key coordinator of Nerdapalooza UK. He is flying all the way out and will be the opener for the show, so it should be pretty exciting!

Next, all the way from Phoenix, Arizona, we have MAJA coming out for Nerdapalooza Southeast 2008. I'll let this man speak for himself with his song Transformer:

Needless to say, I'm pretty damn excited to have this guy on the show.

Last, but DEFINITELY not least, we have THE MISSION VEO out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. These guys are way excited to perform, and I'm way excited to work with them on this! They'll be rocking the show pretty damn hard! Once again...

Anywho! That's all I got for you for now! Buy some tickets, because the prices go up in June! If you're in Florida you should go to the Zombie, Pirate, Ninja Show that I mentioned a bit ago. It's gonna RAWK!

Also, mad props as always to our sponsors Troma, A Comic Shop, and Zombie Duck. We hadn't mentioned Zombie Duck, yet, but we really love them nonetheless. ^_^

Thanks everyone!!

On the Topic of Dance Parties

Now that I have your attention (since the words "dance" and "party" always catch my attention, I only assume that's a universal constant), I will quickly throw some Nerdapalooza propaganda before I tell you what it's pertaining to:

This past week, my friend and future roommate Illithid pumped out a magical video including an interview with me. It was not prompted or commissioned by me in any way. Illithid just really likes Nerdapalooza, and decided to splice up parts of a documentary he's making as a trailer. <3

Here is the vid:

Thanks, Illithid. ^_^

Last, here is the dance party I was telling you about (and thanks as always KiwiX for being our EPIC graphic artist!!!):

That's right! It's a Zombie Pirate Ninja Attack!! It's a part of "The Road to Nerdapalooza" series of shows we're going to try to do to help advertise the event.

Who: Zombies! Organize!!, Captain Dan & the Scurvy Crew, Krondor Krew, Emergency Pizza Party, Mumpsy, and Television Club. Pretty awesome lineup, huh??!
What: The show is 18+ and $5 to get in
Where: Respectable Street in West Palm Beach, Florida. Click here for the google map of the place ^_^
When: May 31st, 2008 @ 8 PM
Why: DUH!! Zombies, Pirates, and Ninjas!! Do you really need to ask why?

Hope to see y'all there. We may also be selling Nerdapalooza tix at a discounted price. ;)
